Weeds are the bane of many gardeners’ existence. They’re hard to get rid of, and they tend to come back year after year. But there are ways to prevent weeds from taking over your garden, and Double-A Landscaping can definitely help you out with this!

As with any garden, there are good weeds and bad weeds. Bad weeds spread disease, damage turfgrass plants, and compete for light and water resources. Weeds have adapted to grow in places where they are not wanted or not supposed to, like your lawn or garden.

There are thousands of different kinds of weeds, and each one has its own unique characteristics. Some look like flowers, others don’t; some grow tall and thin, while others are short and spindly. No two weeds look exactly the same! Most of the time, they thrive in areas where there is less competition. They take advantage of any resources they can find, including soil nutrients and water.

They are resilient and strong! Yes, weeds are resilient and strong and can grow in a variety of conditions which makes them very difficult to control. From sandy soil to heavy clay, they will thrive even if their roots are buried underground. In fact, some weeds have been known to survive for decades after being removed from an area by simply sprouting new roots from the ground below.

As if you needed another reason not to get rid of weeds on your lawn—they’re also able to adapt quickly when things change around them by changing their genetic makeup (aka “evolving”). This means that one year’s weed may be totally different from another year’s weed!
